The outer wall
The Colosseum has a beautiful outer wall view. Travertine marble has used in its building, where iron clamps hold the structure together. Despite multiple earthquakes, the outer wall of the Colosseum is still standing tall. This fact makes it a worth seeing place in Italy.
Even if you aren’t going inside the Colosseum, you can still admire the masterpiece from the outside.
The bronze cross
A 5m high wall protected the Colosseum’s arena keeping spectators from wild beasts’ attacks. You can find a podium at the top here. Most VIPs were seated at this podium. The bronze cross is located near this imperial box. This marker commemorates the death of Christian martyrs.
Hypogeum
The Hypogeum has survived the war and gives gladiator battle tours to visitors. If you want to know what the backstage of earlier battles used to look like, visiting the Colosseum is what you should do.
The historic mark of the Naval Battle
The Colosseum has an ancient Naval Battle historic mark. The wooden floor of the arena is covered with sand, but it was always replaced with water for mock battles. Colosseum once had a giant pool where Roman used to have sea battles.
